en: The Ptoon Painter is an Athenian black-figure painter active ca. 565-555 BCE. The name derives from the column krater discovered in Boeotia (Mt. Ptoon) (Athens, National Museum 1001; BAPD 300776) decorated with animals. Other shapes include the ovoid neck amphora, hydria, and Siana cup. Subjects are warriors, the symposion, draped, males, mythological scenes, and animals. Findspots include Rhodes, Vulci, Sicily, and Tocra.
